Vocal Massage

Bethany has been working in manual therapy for the past 7 years and has treated professional musicians and voice users who range from West-End Performers to singers at National Opera Houses. Bethany also held the position of resident massage therapist at Royal College of Music for a few years before moving out of London. She now treats clients at her Olney clinic, London clinic and on location.

Bethany is fully qualified and insured, she trained at the London School of Massage in Deep tissue and Trigger Point therapy. She later trained with the Active Health Group of Physios in Vocal Massage. Bethany has a wealth of experience of life as a performer and understands the unique demands of professional voice users.

Laryngeal massage is a manual technique to facilitate reduction and elimination of tension in the laryngeal muscles to permit normal movement and vibration of the vocal folds and maximise vocal fold opening for breathing. 
 

Vocal Massage is a unique treatment to help restore and improve performance of the voice. Essential for singers and performers of any level, or anybody suffering from muscle tension dysphonia. If you are expecting a lot from your voice on a regular basis, vocal massage is vital to ensure you can continue performing at your best and to prevent any serious conditions from arising in the future. Vocal Massage is also often referred to as Laryngeal Therapy or Laryngeal Manipulation.

The treatment predominantly targets the neck and larynx, but attention may also be given to the jaw, diaphragm, chest, ribcage and thoracic spine. After your first vocal massage you can already expect to feel more ‘free and open’, with a deeper connection to the muscles involved in breathing, speaking & singing.
